We recently announced our partnership with surrealist collage masters ALE + ALE, and as we strategize how to position their work for the American Market, it is so fun to see their new portfolios popping up.
Those that are familiar with our company know that we appreciate working with the Ispot and the Workbook, so we are very pleased that they were eager to be featured in these terrific venues.
Please take a look at their new Ispot portfolio here, and don’t forget to mosey on over to the Workbook by clicking here!
Fans of contemporary art are flocking to New York City, as the Armory Show and VOLTA have just kicked off. It’s an exciting time!
Last night, the Ladies of MGI were thrilled to attend the opening of VOLTA as guests of one of the participants, our very own Steven Tabbutt. Steven also has a very successful fine art career, thanks to his delightful Parisian gallerist, Yukiko Kawase. It was wonderful to spend some time with this phenomenal talent, and we were thrilled to see his latest pieces. You wouldn’t believe how finessed his originals are when viewed in person – we were truly blown away.
If you are in New York, be sure to take in this amazing show.
Vicki and Gaby have been busy updating the website with new work to keep you up to speed with the latest beauties from our Morgan Gaynin’s Artists!

Thanks for taking a peek!
Since 2005, the Illustration Now! series has become a compelling staple in the illustration community, having featured 600 talented and diverse illustrators from around the world in four popular volumes. Recently, Taschen has decided to crown the top 100 artists of the series in a new publication entitled “100 ILLUSTRATORS”.
You may remember, back in 2009, that the fabulous Dave Calver was invited to be included in one of the original Illustration Now! volumes (and if you don’t, well go on ahead and refresh yourself by clicking here!).
But now we are so pleased to announce that Dave has been invited to participate in this new ’roundup’ volume curated by the Taschen team and designer extraordinare Steve Heller – we like to think of it as a celebration of the best of the best!
Congratulations on this terrific honor, Dave!

Our friends over on the West Coast have some really amazing talent themselves, so we are very happy to announce that SILA, the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, has selected Valeria Petrone for their upcoming exhibition! Congratulations, Valeria – we really love these pieces, so this is nice news indeed.
The carefully curated 3×3 Magazine recently announced the winners for its Annual Pro Show, and we are so thrilled for Victo Ngai, who has taken home the ONLY gold medal this year! What tremendous news. It seems worth mentioning that this is quite an honor, as the competition was particularly fierce this year:
“In reviewing the voting it looks like this was one of the toughest shows yet. Entries were up but there were fewer medals this year. Judges were particularly tough on the editorial and self-promotion categories with less than 10% of the entries making it into the show and head-over-heels for the book category, 20% of the entries made the cut—does this say something about the business environment we’re living in today?”
(Click here to learn more about 3×3′s rigorous judging process.)
We are so proud of this talented young woman, and are continuously impressed by the tremendous honors that she continues to receive. As astounding as her roster is, we are confident that there will continue to be many more awards in her future.

After a brief hiatus to work on a new coding language and app design, we are pleased as punch to announce to return of MGI veteran, Laura Tallardy. Laura, whose vivacious and emotive tween drawings have captivated us from the start, has been working hard to develop a new stylistic direction and a new body of work in the form of the Mermaid Fashion Show, which is now available at the Apple App Store.
The entire process, from creating dozens of illustrations, learning Lua (the latest language), programming, and submitting the app for approval, took over five months from start to finish. But the final product couldn’t possibly be any more charming, and Laura is now able to focus her attention on other facets of her illustration career once again.
Blogmistress Kate was eager to be one of the first to beta test the app, and would like to introduce you to her doppelganger, Princess Kate (a very clever name, of course):
You can click here to download the new program from the Apple Store, click here to learn more about the Mermaid Fashion show, and watch the demo video!
And welcome back, Laura!
The annual “American Illustration” competition acknowledges some of the most cutting-edge illustrations from the previous year, and it is a great honor in our industry to be included in their pages. We are so happy that this year, three of our artists have made it!
Josée Bisaillon’s whimsical image was ‘chosen’ to appear on the juried web gallery:
Valeria Petrone’s bathing beauties were ‘selected’ to appear in the annual:
And Victo Ngai’s awesome conceptual piece will also appear in the book this year:
We’d previously encountered Paul Garland’s textured, graphic work in coveted publications such as the 3×3 Annual and American Illustration, but when he sent us this darling Holiday card, we were absolutely charmed:
We knew immediately that we wanted to chat with this talented fellow.
With a great personality that matches the strength of his work, it was evident that there was potential for a terrific partnership. We are now very pleased to announce the arrival of Paul Garland, MGI’s latest illustrator!
Inspired by the bucolic English countryside and the joyfulness of his little girl, Amber Rose, Paul’s bold, digital imagery begins with traditional hand made textures, drawings, paintings and printmaking. Many of his Gold Medal and award winning works enjoy clever word play as part of their conceptual solutions, and we are so happy to welcome this dynamic new addition to our group. Please take a look at his portfolio and take a moment to get acquainted with this talented artist.

I’m sure that the announcements are still trickling out, but we have heard confirmation from Victo Ngai and Valeria Petrone that two of their pieces (each!) have been accepted into CommArt 2012. Congratulations, Ladies! Let the jobs roll in.
