Laurie Lafrance has an extra something to be thankful for this year! We were so excited to learn that her Olympic postage stamp has been awarded the “Prix Olympia 2010” Gold Medal by the (wait for it!) Olympic Philately Numismatic and Memorabilia Commission.
The Olympic Philately, Numismatic and Memorabilia Commission is responsible for advising the International Olympic Committee on the dissemination of the Olympic ideal through the worldwide promotion of stamps, coins and items commemorating the Olympic Games. In addition, it stands to reason that the number of syllables included in an award’s title also signify its level of importance. So this is a pretty big deal.
Guido Scarabottolo’s highly stylized and conceptual work has graced the pages of the New York Times on numerous occasions, but today’s elegantly written blog by the talented Leanne Shapton was a refreshing celebration of his equal success in the fine art world.
Feeling somewhat high brow? Then I suggest you take a peek here.
Dave Calver’s distinctive critters warm our hearts, and we love seeing the charming fine art pet portraits that he creates for various clients.
But this particular image hits close to home, as he is a regular office visitor! It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to Amos, Vicki’s daughter’s plucky pooch.
Commissioned by Gail Gaynin and her husband Terry Clough for Annie’s recent marriage, the image portrays our fuzzy pal partaking in one of his favorite activities – hanging out poolside on the veranda (a fancy New York City word for ‘fire escape’).
To learn more about our four legged friends, be sure to visit Annie’s awesome blog! You can take a peak here.
Isn’t it awesome to pull inspiration from the world around us? Here we see Josee Bisaillon’s adorable little girl, Margot, during Halloween, and a piece that was inspired by her cuteness.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Sarah Hollander’s heartwarming illustrations recently breathed life into the adorable children’s book “The 12 Days of Christmas in Washington DC,” and we are pleased as punch that her hard work has been so well received.
The artist was recently involved in a successful book signing at “Hooray for Books” in Alexandria, Virginia. Take a look at these lovely photographs that were taken by the author, Candice Ransom – what a doll (Sarah’s on the right)!
We would also like to take this opportunity to brag about two of the other Morgan Gaynin artists, as we have been fortunate enough to have 3 of our talented illustrators selected to work on this fun project that tackles holiday traditions and fun facts from all 50 states (and, of course, our lovely capitol!). Congratulations are also in order for Lisa Adams, who illustrated “The 12 Days of Christmas in New York City,” and Judy Stead, the artist behind “The 12 Days of Christmas in North Carolina”.
We recently passed Halloween, which in the United States means but one thing – playing Holiday songs super prematurely!
But my fellow curmudgeons may feel their icy hearts begin to thaw upon viewing the charming packaging created by Mary Lynn Blasutta for the official Starbucks Holiday Mix. Her vintage inspired illustrations highlight some of the greatest reasons for the season, including canoodling and high jinks, and these delightful scenes just might encourage you to get into the Holiday spirit.
Released today, you can pop into any Starbucks location and pick one up to call your very own. It goes without saying that they’d make adorable stocking stuffers, as well.
And congratulations, Mary Lynn!
Don Kilpatrick and his fabulous “Little Buffalo Press” has been featured on Etsy’s blog! For those of you unfamiliar with this wonderful site, it offers a smorgasbord of beautiful handmade goodies from independent designers and artists. It is also where a startling number of the blogmistress’s paychecks go.
If you haven’t seen the awesome film about Don’s process yet, it’s worth checking out. All you have to do is click here.
Anne Faith Nicholls’s distinctive aesthetic is being taken to the next level, and we are so excited for her! Those in the Los Angeles area have an excellent treat in store for them this Friday as she is throwing open the doors to her new studio-gallery-shop wonderland.
The new space, located in the heart of Venice, will also serve as a permanent platform to do exhibitions, and is an exciting step in the expansion of her fine art business. Congratulations, Anne!

Those of you that have had the pleasure of meeting Keith, our former tech, must surely remember him for his wicked sense of humor and distinctive fashion choices (he’s precious). So you can imagine how delighted our office was when we received an adorable Halloween greeting, complete with this clip of him and his partner Jarod being featured on the TODAYshow!
Take a look here to see Keith and Jarod as the TODAYshow hosts Hoda and Kathie Lee.
