The Children’s Book Council Honors Simona Mulazzani

The Children’s Book Council, one of North America’s foremost supporters of children’s literature and reading, recently honored “Rock-A-Bye Romp,” a darling play on the famous lullaby, written by Linda Ashman and illustrated by our own Simona Mulazzani.

Their “Hot off the Press” list, which features anticipated bestsellers, is a unique and impressive collection of fun titles, and we couldn’t be happier to see Simona in such nice company.

Take a look at the complete list here.

Simona Mulazzani Takes the Silver at the 2013 Original Art Show!

Friends and colleagues are certainly accustomed to seeing us mix and mingle at the Society of Illustrators’ annual Original Art Show,  which champions the art of childrens’ book illustration. This year is a little extra exciting for us, however, as Simona Mulazzani will be receiving a silver medal for her work on “I Wish I Had,” a stunning picturebook published by Eerdmans. This is truly an honor, and one of the most prestigious awards a picturebook illustrator can receive.

Congratulations, Simona!

Daniele creates poster for Children’s Book Fair

Daniele Melani recently created this fabulous image for the poster of the “Petite Edition Jeune Illustration.”  The “Petite Edition” is an invitational children’s book fair for small publishers held at the Salon du Livre in Lyons, France.  At the fair, Beppe Giacobbe signed his two books “Le Roi du Silence” (“The King of Silence”) and the “Catalogue des adieux” (“the Catalog of Farewells”) while Daniele signed his new book “Emma.”
Daniele also sent us this great photo of himself, Simona Mulazzani, and Beppe Giacobbe (all MGI illustrators) at the show.  Click on the photo to see it larger!
